Create a costume based on a character from your favorite book, and you can enter to win a prize in one of five different costume categories! The contest is open to teens in grades 6-12.
Contest categories include Most Creative, Silliest, Most Realistic, Scariest, and Most Obscure. A $20 Starbucks gift card will be awarded to the winner of each of these five categories. Online voting by the public will take place through the library's website from November 3-8, and winners will be announced on November 9. Photos may also be displayed in the online Teen Art Gallery page on the library website as well as on the library's social media.
DEADLINE EXTENDED: Contest entries will be accepted October 1-November 1. To enter, take a photo of yourself wearing your costume. Attach that photo to an email with the subject line "Literary Costume Contest" and send it to youngadult@carmel.lib.in.us with the following information:
your first, last name, and the grade you're in
the name of the character you are dressing up as
the name of the book that character is from
Your submission must follow all the rules for entry. See complete rules for entry here.
A link for public voting will be available on the library's website and social media from November 3-8. All submissions will be displayed to the public during the voting period and in an online gallery on the Teens page of the library’s website after the contest ends. Select photos may be used on the library’s social media.
