Homeschool Resources

Whether you are considering homeschooling or are already doing so and looking for additional resources, the Carmel Clay Public Library can help. We invite you to visit us and explore the wide range of print, online, and audiovisual materials the Children's and Youth Services Department provides, as well as our fun and educational events. From home, you can also access our online catalog, download audiobooks and ebooks, and get recommended reading lists for kids. You are always welcome to call us at 317-844-3363 if you need assistance. A few of the many resources available are below.

    Children's Technology Center

The Children's Technology Center has 13 computers that contain a variety of resources, including Microsoft Office and filtered Internet access, to assist children with their research efforts. In addition, we have 2 non-Internet computers loaded with high-quality learning games for children in preschool through grade 3. Printers are also available; black and white prints cost 10 cents per page, and color prints are 50 cents per page.

    Programs

Our Youth Services staff offer programming for children from birth through fifth grade. Monthly calendars of current library programs are available at the Children's Reference Desk or online. We also offer a winter and summer reading program to encourage lifelong reading and learning.

Programs of particular interest to homeschooling families:

Questers is a self-driven, on-demand STEAM program that encourages children ages 8-12 to explore, tinker, acquire skills, play, and experiment, with the goal of developing critical thinking skills, resiliency, and a sense of accomplishment.

Questers JR is a STEAM-focused program that encourages children ages 5-7 with their caregivers to explore, tinker, acquire skills, play, and experiment, with the goal of developing critical thinking skills, resiliency, and a sense of accomplishment. Questers JR Workshops, Exploratoriums, and Outside Presenter Programs are offered throughout the year. Check the online calendar for dates and details. Questers JR Exploration Kits are available for in-library use any time the library is open.

Exploration kits are available for in-library use any time the library is open.  Kits are available in a variety of STEAM and Early Literacy topics, and are geared towards children ages 2-12, with adult supervision.
