Teen Library Council

The Teen Library Council (TLC) is an advisory board of students in grades 9–12 who meet monthly with the library's Teen Services staff to discuss books, movies, and music and to give input on library issues related to teens. Members of the Teen Library Council commit to attending one meeting per month during the school year as well as reading and attending library programs outside of the meetings. Please read our Teen Library Council Overview to see if the Teen Library Council would be a good fit for you.

In order to maximize member involvement and success, new members are accepted to the Teen Library Council every May, and there are limited spots available.

    Teen Library Council overview

Here's what Teen Library Council members have to say about their experience.

"TLC is an amazing experience for anyone who is remotely interested in books, movies, music, or other media forms!! It's so fun to be a part of a group of people who all have open minds and are interested in talking about many different topics; from discussing Wicked to Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, TLC welcomes all with open arms! I love TLC for that and I am so grateful to be a part of it." - Evie

"The Carmel Clay Public Library has been a place I have been familiar with since I was a toddler. I have so many happy childhood memories. It made so much sense for me to join the TLC last year, as this is my second year as a TLC member. My most memorable event was planning and attending NerdFest last year. Jedi light saber battles and Pokémon trading are events that I truly enjoy. I cannot wait to do it again this year. I am proud to contribute and be a part of such a meaningful organization." - Alessandro

"Joining the TLC at CCPL this year has been a great experience so far. I really loved receiving the extra training as a kit assistant and lab assistant. Also, being a part of this community has inspired me to get reading some more. This year, I am looking forward to NerdFest!" - Leo

"One thing I have always been interested in is reading. Joining the Teen Library Council at the Carmel Clay Public Library allowed me to interact with individuals who have the same interests as I do. My favorite part of TLC at CCPL is the discussions we have on different books and movies, where I can contribute to every meeting and share my perspectives. What I am really proud of at TLC is that I played a role in planning an event that helped so many kids have fun during the winter. I am really looking forward to next year." - Dhairya
