Enjoy a live reading of Julie Lyn Barber's new play Liars Bench, followed by a talkback session with cast and directors. Part of ATI's Lab Series. Presented in partnership with the CCPL Foundation.
A small town carves its identity in a new era which brings unexpected attention to their quaint and curious lives. A wayward son returns to his hometown with a new appreciation for its uniqueness. The old wooden “Liars Bench” in front of the courthouse is covered with carved names that bring back memories he wants to capture and share with the outside world. Unfortunately, his plan backfires when the outside world doesn’t see his community in the same light, and the bench becomes a symbol of the past, present and future as the town must come together to figure out how to negotiate a new century that they can no longer hide from.
Registration is recommended.
