Hear firsthand stories about life inside prison and what it is like adjusting to life after release. Presented in partnership with Storytelling Arts of Indiana. Registration is recommended.
Listen to individuals sharing their stories of life before, within, and outside of incarceration. These stories illustrate the many issues surrounding our prison system. Learn how you can become involved in the organizations that provide services for inmates and those trying to rebuild their lives after serving time. Registration is recommended but not required.
The goal of Hear Our Stories is to:
• Train individuals who have experienced incarceration to tell their unique stories for a stipend
• Create opportunities for these individuals to tell their stories to the community for a stipend
• Raise awareness of the incarceration system in Indiana
• Encourage individuals to get involved with organizations that support inmates and ex-offenders by providing a list of resources
Hear Our Stories is sponsored by Storytelling Arts of Indiana, St. Luke's United Methodist Church, and Trusted Mentors. Funding is provided by The Indianapolis Foundation and the Nicholas H. Noyes Jr. Memorial Foundation.
