Learn about systemic barriers impacting today's neighborhoods and what you can do about it. Presented by the Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana. Registration is required.
Unfair housing practices can lead to the loss of generational wealth, negative health implications, and a lack of access to fair wage jobs, transportation, and quality school systems. In this thoughtful presentation, Amy Nelson, Executive Director of the Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana, will discuss systemic barriers like redlining, racial covenants, steering, neighborhood intimidation, and other forms of housing discrimination. Amy will also discuss what modern-day forms of housing discrimination in sales and lending can look like as well as why it is so important that we remedy the harmful effects of these practices. Find out if you might live in a segregated neighborhood and what you can do to combat these discriminatory practices. Registration is required.
And don't miss the special exhibit Unwelcomed: A Fair Housing History on the 2nd floor of the Main Library from November 3 through January 3.
