Due to severe weather, the library is closing at 5:00pm on Friday, January 10. More details »
Registration now closed
Create a chalk drawing on the Main Library sidewalk that depicts a favorite book cover. This event is for adults, and registration is required.
Choose a book cover that you love or one that's inspired by our summer reading theme "Adventure Begins at Your Library" to recreate on the library sidewalks.
If you'd like to register individually, you'll be assigned a 5-foot square to decorate.
If you prefer to register with a partner, the two of you will be assigned a 6.5-foot square to decorate together. (Both partners will need to register separately using the Register button.)
Check-in for the event begins at 10am on the grassy area on the west side of the Main Library, and you will be given your assigned square when you check in. All drawings must be completed by 2pm.
Although participants must be 18 or older, all ages are invited to watch and vote for their favorite drawings. Voting will take place between 1pm and 3pm.
The library will provide chalk and water, but you're welcome to bring your own chalk/chalk pastels for brighter colors or a design with lots of a single color.
Optional things to consider bringing for a fun chalking experience
In the event of rain, this event will take place on Saturday, August 3, from 10am–2pm.
