Community RoomBestselling author Ryan Cole shares his new book "The Last Adieu." Registration is required for this free author event.
Ryan L. Cole's new book The Last Adieu narrates the farewell tour of the Marquis de Lafayette, capturing both its spectacular pageantry and emotional impact, not only from Lafayette’s perspective, but through eyewitness accounts and recollections of the everyday Americans who participated in the great celebration. Co-starring the swarm of fascinating characters Lafayette encountered across the American landscape—elderly founding fathers, populist politicians, idealistic reformers—this is both a record of an incredible journey and a panorama of a rising America and a chronicle of a time when, as Lafayette wrote, memories of its Revolution came back to life.
Ryan L. Cole, a former speechwriter and assistant to Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels, holds degrees in history and journalism from Indiana University. He has written extensively about American history and is the author of Light-Horse Harry Lee: The Rise and Fall of a Revolutionary Hero.
Foundation bookselling partner Morgenstern Books will offer book sales, and the author will sign copies following the conversation. Registration is required for this free author event. Presented by the Carmel Clay Public Library Foundation.
