Ted Yoder has redefined what's possible with the hammered dulcimer! Joining him for unique musical concert is cellist Andre J. Gaskins. Registration is required for this free concert.
Ted Yoder is a world-renowned musician, known for his groundbreaking and innovative approach to the hammered dulcimer which has earned him the title "the Bela Fleck of the Hammered Dulcimer." Ted’s original compositions blend rock 'n' roll sensibilities and unmistakable innovation, creating deeply moving and joyous music that captivates audiences.
In 2016, Ted gained widespread attention when his hammered dulcimer cover of Tears for Fears' "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" became a viral sensation on Facebook, amassing over 100 million views. He won the title of National Hammered Dulcimer Champion, performed on NPR radio, opened for Jake Shimabukuro, performed at Busch Gardens, and was featured on the historic WGN radio in Chicago.
Ted will be joined for this concert by cellist Andre J. Gaskins. As Principal Cellist of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic since 2014, Gaskins enjoys a diverse musical career as cellist, conductor, composer and music educator. Maintaining an active schedule as a performing cellist, his recording of Martinu's "Concertino" for the Summit Records label was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Awards in the category of Best Performance by a Small Ensemble (With or Without Conductor). Solo appearances have included performances with the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, the Richmond Philharmonic, the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, the Richmond Symphony Orchestra, the Carmel Symphony Orchestra and the Reading Symphony Orchestra. An active and dedicated teacher, Mr. Gaskins currently teaches at DePauw University.
