(Ages 9–12) Join us for a discussion of Wonder and participate in a sled building competition. Read the full event description for important registration info or call 317.844.3363.
In Wonder by R.J. Palacio, 10-year-old Auggie Pullman, who was born with extreme facial abnormalities and was not expected to survive, goes from being home-schooled to entering fifth grade at a private middle school in Manhattan, which entails enduring the taunting and fear of his classmates as he struggles to be seen as just another student. Join us to talk about this wondrous story. Following our discussion, we will build a sled just like Jack, one of Auggie's best friends, and test it to see how far we can make it go.
Registration is required and begins November 14. To ensure successful signup, each child age 9–12 needs to be registered separately, using the child's first and last name—not the parent's name—on the registration form. A library card number is not required. A caregiver must be present and actively engaged in the program. Siblings are welcome and don't need to register.
