Join us for an afternoon of competition, camaraderie, and community with classic and modern games. Registration is recommended but not required.
International Games Month (IGM) is an initiative run by volunteers from around the world to reconnect communities through their libraries around the educational, recreational, and social value of all types of games.
Come one, come all, and make some new friends as you connect over games you might not have played in quite some time. From Clue to Mancala, from Chutes and Ladders to Battleship, we are pulling out every classic board game that the library owns and bringing them back out for an afternoon of competition, camaraderie, and community. In addition, we will have newer, more modern games to try out with volunteers ready to help guide through play—from Forbidden Island to Smug Owls, from Sushi Go to Exploding Kittens. If you would like to bring a favorite game to teach and play with others, feel free to do so as this event is all about sharing the love of gaming with our community! (We just ask that you are responsible for any game and pieces you bring so nothing gets lost.)
Some larger-than-life games will also be sprinkled throughout the room, like Jenga, Othello, Checkers, and an original interactive game created by some of our talented staff.
Pop in whenever you're free, or join us for all 3 hours of the event. Registration is recommended to help us plan for numbers but is not required.
ALSO AVAILABLE: Puzzle & Game Exchange Afternoon: Swap your gently used puzzles and games for ones that are new to you, and try out some games and puzzles at this special, one-day-only event.
PLEASE NOTE: Children in grade 5 and below must have a supervising caregiver (parent, guardian, or other caregiver aged 16 or older) on library premises. Children in kindergarten or younger must be supervised and within sightlines of their caregiver.
