Create a chalk drawing on the Main Library sidewalk that depicts a favorite book cover. This event is for 16+. Registration is required.
Come draw a book cover that you love or one that's inspired by our summer reading theme "Color Our World" to recreate on the library sidewalks!
Check-in begins at 10am on the grassy area on the west side of the Main Library, where you'll be given a 4' x 4' foot square of sidewalk. You can register individually or with a partner. Although chalk artists must be 16+, all ages are welcome to watch and vote for their favorite drawings. Drawing will end at 1pm, and voting will be open from noon–2pm. The winner(s) will receive a golden dragon trophy created by the Digital Media Lab after the event.
The library will provide chalk and water, but you're welcome to bring your own chalk/chalk pastels for brighter colors or cover designs with lots of a single color.
In the event of rain, this event will take place on Saturday, August 2, from 10am–1pm.
