Join us for a discussion of Lifeboat 12 and participate in a lifeboat building challenge. Kids ages 9–12 need to register separately, and a caregiver must attend. Click this event title for details.
Lifeboat 12 by Susan Hood is based on the 1940 true story about a group of British children, their escorts, and some sailors who struggle to survive in a lifeboat when the ship taking them to safety in Canada is torpedoed. We will discuss this story together and then build a lifeboat out of everyday materials and test its capacity.
Registration is required and begins May 30. To ensure successful signup, each child age 9–12 needs to register separately using the child's first and last name, not the parent's name, on the registration form. A library card number is not required. A caregiver must be present and actively engaged in the program. Siblings are welcome and don't need to register.
