Central Dog Park

Become a BookTuber by recommending your favorite books on camera at these fun outdoor sessions.

Have you ever wanted to be a BookTuber? Now you can! Join library staff in the public green space at Carmel's Central Dog Park to star in a short book talk telling our patrons why they should read one of your favorite books! Each video will be professionally filmed by CCPL staff, and select recordings will be shared on the library’s social media.

What is a book talk? It's a short, original teaser in your own words that will make everyone else want to read the book. Each book talk should be 30 seconds to 1 minute long. Bring a physical copy of the book(s) if you can, and feel free to bring notes as a reference. An easy way to use notes in the video is to tape them to the back of the book. You may also bring small props that go along with your book or cosplay as one of your favorite characters from the book! You can even bring a friend to book talk the same title together in the same video.

Service hours are available for CCPL Teen Volunteer Corps (TVC) members only, but you do not have to be a TVC member to star in a video. If you are not yet a member of the TVC and would like to earn community service for your book talk, applications are available online and are accepted year-round. TVC members will earn one service hour for each video filmed. During each event, you will have the opportunity to star in up to three videos (each video must be about a different book). That means you can get up to 3 service hours for each event or 6 total service hours if you attend both days! See the dates, times, and location below. There is no registration required.

Things to do before arriving at the park:

Fill out and have your guardian or yourself (if you are over 18) sign this video release form. Please bring a printed and completed form to each Pages in the Park event you attend.
Think of a book you would like to share with our patrons and brainstorm a few points about why you like this book and what it is about. Each video will be 30 seconds to 1 minute long. View the Pages in the Park playlist for examples.
If you would like to do more than one video, please prepare information for a different book for each video. (For example, if you are doing 3 videos, you will need three different books.)
Feel welcome to bring the book(s), your notes, a prop, some artwork, or even a friend to talk about the same book with you. If you are at all nervous about being on camera, we would be happy to film what you bring with you while you talk about the book off camera.
All events will take place in the public green space at Central Dog Park in Carmel.  The public green space is not in the fenced-in area with the dogs; no membership is required.

Come to as many days of filming as you would like!
