Become a BookTuber by creating a video recommending your favorite books that we can share with library patrons! Join us for these fun outdoor sessions.
Have you ever wanted to be a BookTuber? Now you can! Join library staff at Carey Grove Park to star in a short book talk telling our patrons why they should read one of your favorite books! Each video will be professionally filmed by CCPL staff.
What is a book talk? It's a short, original teaser in your own words that will make everyone else want to read the book. Each book talk should be 30 seconds to 1 minute long. New books published in 2020 or 2021 are encouraged. Bring a physical copy of the book(s) if you can, and feel free to bring notes as a reference. An easy way to use notes in the video is to tape them to the back of the book. You may also bring small props that go along with your book or cosplay as one of your favorite characters from the book! You can even bring a friend to book talk the same title together in the same video.
Service hours are available for CCPL Teen Volunteer Corps (TVC) members only, but you do not have to be a TVC member to star in a video. If you are not yet a member of the TVC and would like to earn community service for your book talk, applications are available online and are accepted year-round. TVC members will earn one service hour for each video filmed. During each event, you will have the opportunity to star in up to three videos (each video must be about a different book). That means you can get up to 3 service hours for each event or 9 total service hours if you attend all three days! See the dates, times, and location below. There is no registration required.
Select book talks will be posted on CCPL’s website, catalog, and YouTube channel.
