Local Author Fair

The Carmel Clay Public Library invites published authors to participate in the 2024 Local Author Fair. Meet other local authors, connect with members of the community, and promote your published works. Local authors of fiction and nonfiction for any age are invited to participate, including self-published authors.

Application Information for Authors

To apply for a table at the Local Author Fair, submit a copy of your published book and an application form to the Main Library’s 2nd-floor Adult Services Department.

Application deadline is Friday, July 26, 2024.

Authors selected to participate will be notified by phone or email by August 2. Based upon the number of applications received, the library reserves the right to limit participation by selecting a representative sample of types of work.

Application Guidelines
  • Participation in the Local Author Fair is by application only.
  • Publications must be of general interest and published in the last ten years.
  • Authors are responsible for their money, personal items, and products. The library is not able to provide change, cash boxes, or credit card readers. Authors who choose to accept electronic payments are responsible for payment setup and configuration. The library cannot provide technical support.
  • Authors may be asked to provide a photo or other promotional materials for publicity.
  • The library does not have the ability to accommodate banners or wall and ceiling hangings.
  • The library reserves the right to accept or reject any application at its discretion.
Event Information for Authors
  • The event venue will be open to the public on Saturday, August 24, 2024, from 1pm to 4pm. Participants can gain access to and set up their table beginning at 12pm on the day of the event.
  • The library will provide each author with one table and two chairs. The author is responsible for tablecloths, cash boxes, signs, etc.
  • There is no participation fee or admission charge for this event. Giving away free bookmarks, samples, business cards, etc., is permitted. A small prize drawing is also permitted, provided there is no charge for entries.
