Play and challenge other local chess players of all skill levels in preparation for the chess tournament coming in January 2023. This program is open to anyone ages 5 and up. Registration recommended.
Drop in for open chess practice in preparation for CCPL’s very first chess tournament in January 2023. All are welcome—ages 5 through 105, beginners to advanced.
We'll have No Stress Chess for those just starting out, plenty of boards for those ready to take the gambit, and iPads for those preferring a digital touch. We’ll also have varying levels of competitiveness for those who want to play head-to-head against someone to boost their rating, for others who want to enjoy a relaxing game and make a new friend, or for adventurous types who want to take a chance in our 4-player board.
Carmel High School’s Chess Club president Yash Bhargava, who is a Class A-rated player and private chess tutor, will be conducting a practice swiss-style tournament in preparation for the official Gambit 425 tournament coming on Saturday, January 7th.
Advance registration is recommended to help us get a headcount ahead of the event, but drop-ins are more than welcome!

The library will host a tournament complete with prizes and trophies on Saturday, January 7th!
