Through engaging prompts, models, and writing exercises, this workshop will assist participants in writing poems about personal experiences related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Special emphasis will be placed on writing the elegy and ode, two forms especially well-suited for exploring the terrain of loss and conveying unforeseen discoveries.
This workshop will be led by Shari Wagner, former Indiana Poet Laureate and author of three books of poems, The Harmonist at Nightfall: Poems of Indiana, Evening Chore, and The Farm Wife's Almanac.
This program is for adults age 18+ and will be held virtually via Zoom. Poets of all experience levels are welcome. Handouts and Zoom information will be emailed to registrants the day before the event.
This program was made possible with the support of the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana Authors Awards powered by Indiana Humanities.
