An online book club for kids ages 9-12 and their caregivers with weekly activities throughout February and a live discussion on February 22. Registration is required and begins January 18.
Stuck inside? Why not share the joy of bonding over books with your kids and join us in reading The Unlikely Story of a Pig in the City by Jodi Kendall. In this heartwarming tale, Josie Shilling's family is too big, her cramped city house is too small, and she feels like no one's ever on her side. Then on Thanksgiving Day, her older brother, Tom, brings home a pink, squirmy bundle wrapped in an old football jersey -- a piglet he rescued from a nearby farm. Her name is Hamlet. The minute Josie holds Hamlet, she feels an instant connection. But there's no room for Hamlet in the crowded Shilling household. And whoever heard of keeping a pig in the city? So it's up to Josie to find Hamlet a forever home.
Registration is required and begins January 18. Beginning February 1 we'll have lots of fun interacting weekly through Padlet, a shared digital wall. Then on February 22 we'll get together live via Zoom at 6:30 p.m. to discuss our overall feelings about the book.
After you register, a staff member will email you to discuss whether you'd like to read the book electronically or pick up a copy via our curbside service at the Merchant’s Square Main Library. The email will also contain a link for participating in the Padlet activities.
Zoom login information will be emailed to registrants the morning of our live Zoom discussion on February 22. Your registration allows your family to connect using only one device. Please do not connect with multiple devices.
