Create an award for a changemaker during the month of February. This online volunteer opportunity is open to all interested teens in grades 6–12.

As part of the Students Rebuild 2021 Changemaker Challenge, all February long we are inviting teens in grades 6–12 to make awards for a changemaker in their community and earn 1 hour of volunteer credit!

What is a changemaker? Someone who takes creative action to solve a social problem. They could be a family member, neighbor, classmate, teacher, community organizer, doctor, librarian, friend, or someone else. They could even be someone you admire but haven't met yet.

How to Participate:

Create an award for a changemaker using whatever materials you have. The award could be any kind, such as a ribbon, medal, star, certificate, or trophy. Include the changemaker's name and why they are receiving the award. Take a photo of the award and email it to us at youngadult@carmel.lib.in.us with "Awards for Changemakers" in the subject line. Make sure to include your name in the email as well.

At the end of February, we will send all the award photos we receive to Students Rebuild. For every award, the Bezos Family Foundation will donate $5 to young people and educators leading change in their local communities throughout the US and across the world.

For each award submitted, you can receive 1 volunteer service hour. If you would like to receive credit for your volunteer hours, please make sure you are a member of the library's Teen Volunteer Corps before you submit your award.

Submissions will be accepted from February 1–28, 2021.
