An online book club for girls ages 8-12 and their mothers or female caregivers. Registration is required and begins July 27.
This summer mothers and daughters can connect over books and share their love of reading with us, using the easy online apps Padlet and Zoom! With each book, we'll have lots of fun interacting weekly through Padlet as we read. Then we'll get together live via Zoom to discuss our overall feelings about the book experience.
This month we're reading Eggs Over Evie by Alison Jackson. Twelve-year-old Evie Carson lives with her mom. In an apartment across the lake, Evie's celebrity-chef dad is starting a new life with his young second wife, Angie, who's expecting twins. To make matters worse, Evie's dad has custody of the beloved family dog. Navigating her new family situation is difficult, and Evie turns to her love of cooking as a way to stay connected to her father. Evie learns to look outside herself, help others, and make friends where she never thought she could. (She also learns to make a pretty darn good soufflé!)
Registration is required and begins July 27 using the Register button above, and Padlet activities will be posted weekly beginning August 10. After you register, a staff member will email to discuss whether you'd like to read the book electronically or pick up a copy via our curbside service. The email will also contain a link for participating in the Padlet activities.
Our live Zoom virtual discussion of the book will be at 6:30 p.m. on August 31. Zoom login information will be emailed to registrants that morning. Your registration allows your family to connect using only one device. Please do not connect with multiple devices.
